League Overview

The Liga BBVA or Primera Division is Spain’s top flight football division and features 20 teams.

It was founded in 1929 as the country’s first national league and three of the founding teams – Barcelona, Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao – have never been relegated.

Real Madrid have won the most la Liga titles (31), though Barcelona have taken the championship in the last three successive seasons.
