West Brom reject Osaze transfer request
Osaze has asked to quit WBA
Osaze to stay at West Brom
West Brom have rejected a formal
transfer request from Nigeria international Osaze Odemwingie.
Odemwingie's request was described as "disappointing" by West Brom technical director Richard Garlick.
"It was immediately turned down and has done nothing to change our stance during January," Garlick told WBA website.
"Peter is hugely popular with our supporters and it is disappointing that he has decided to hand in a transfer request. Peter is under contract until the summer of 2014 and we have no need or desire to sell our core players," Garlick added.
"We want to keep the squad intact to enable us to build on an encouraging first six months of the season."
It is believed that last week the English Premier League club turned down an offer for the 31-year-old Nigeria striker.
West Brom are expecting a renewed £3million bid from QPR for Osaze despite insisting that he is not for sale.
The Baggies have already had a £2million bid from their Premier League rivals for the Nigeria hitman as QPR boss Harry Redknapp looks to bolster his squad at Loftus Road to mount a push for survival.
Whether extra cash would be enough to tempt the Baggies board into a sale remains to be seen, but Odemwingie could be tempted by the reported wages that will be on offer from the Londoners in what could be the last big move in his career.
