Morocco explain Belhanda situation
Younes Belhanda of Morocco
“Younes had a slight thigh strain” explained the Moroccan team physical trainer Salah Lahlaeu during a press briefing on Tuesday morning.
“He has thankfully overcome these issues and is fit for selection for the opening game.”
Morocco coach Rachid Taoussi will be boosted by the news that the Montpellier midfielder, who comes into the tournament with a big reputation, is in contention to start against the Angolans.
The Atlas Lions have a clean bill of health and according to Lahlaeu they have no other injury concerns.
Belhanda himself looked upbeat as he strolled around the hotel freely without any hint of injury, while chatting informally with members of the Moroccan press before heading to training.
The Moroccans will take on South African Premier League side Bidvest Wits in a training match on Tuesday evening at the Rand Stadium in Johannesburg.
