Arsenal's Gervinho
Gervinho says Arsenal will respect hosts Montpellier tonight in their UEFA Champions League clash.

The Cote d'Ivoire striker told Arsenal’s official website that debutants Montpellier were deserved winners of the French Ligue 1 last season.

“Every team has a chance. Nothing is done before the game and we are hoping to do well in the competition," Gervinho said.

"We are respectful towards this Montpellier side."

Gervinho added that they were expecting a quality opponent despite striker Olivier Giroud, who inspired them to the title with 25 goals, crossing the floor to join Arsenal this season.

“Montpellier played well last season and when we saw the recruiting that PSG did last season, we felt they [the latter] would win the league,” Gervinho said.

“But Montpellier made it through the whole league and deserved to win it."
