Utaka expects great things from Giroud
John Utaka has tipped his former Montpellier strike partner Olivier Giroud to fire Arsenal into serious title contention in England.

Last week, 25-year-old Giroud, who netted 21 goals to lead Montpellier to an historic French championship, completed a £12 million move to the London Gunners.

Nigeria international Utaka featured in the glamorous English Premier League for Portsmouth for two seasons and he is therefore well placed to know what is expected of the major Arsenal signing.

“With players like (Lukas) Podolski, (Alex) Song and Thomas Vermaelen helping out from behind and a lethal partnership with Robin van Persie, I am sure Giroud will transform Arsenal into serious title contenders this season," Utaka specially told MTNFootball.com

"Giroud loves to be fed with the ball. He is a clinical finisher and joining a team like Arsenal who love to pass the ball around, I see him exploding at the Emirates.

"He may not have had the best of times at the Euros, but one thing I am confident of is that he will shine at the Emirates.”

The 30-year-old Utaka though has insisted he is staying put at Montpellier and looking forward to starring in the forthcoming UEFA Champions League.
