West Brom boss relishes Osaze strike force

Osaze again scored goals in the EPL last season
West Brom new boss Steve Clarke has said he aims to make Nigeria’s Osaze Odemwingie and Shane Long a lethal strike force in the new season.

Last season, the two strikers failed to hit it off on the pitch as a pair, but individually they both had relatively impressive seasons, scoring goals that ensured The Baggies were not threatened in the English Premier League.

Clarke has now said he is determined to get the best out of them and is already planning to mastermind a formation that favours their best attributes.

“It’s quite an appealing prospect,” said the 48-year-old coach.

“Both of them have proved that they are natural goal scorers and if you have two goal scorers who can score goals, it’s a big plus.

“I am looking forward to have both of them together in games, it will be difficult for opposing defence to stop them.

“Scoring goals is the most important part of the game.  If you’re strong in defence and you’ve got a couple of natural goal scorers, then you always have a chance.”

The Baggies boss is looking forward to working with the star strikers and knows a lot about them from his time as first-team coach at Liverpool.

During an 18-month spell at Anfield, the Scot conducted extensive research on the goal scorers before his former side lined up against his new employers.
