Delta and Akwa Ibom State Governors Emmanuel Uduaghan and Godswill Akpabio have pledged to support the Mikel Obi foundation.

Both Governors played host to the 2011/2012 UEFA Champions League winner in their state capitals at separate receptions.

Mikel told MTNFootball.com he was thrilled that both governors have agreed to identify with his project.

"I was hosted by Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and his Akwa Ibom State counterpart Akpabio and they both appreciated my efforts in setting up my foundation,” he disclosed.

“They have associated with it and also donated to it. I appreciate their support."

Mikel will be hosted soon by Plateau State Governor Jonah David Jang for making the state proud by winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea last month.

The Eagles midfielder was born and grew up in Jos, where his parents still live.

He also featured for the Plateau State government-owned Plateau United before he moved abroad.
