Blackburn Rovers have completed the signing of striker Leon Best from Newcastle United on a four-year deal worth more than £3million.

Sky Sports reports that the 25-year-old was undergoing a medical at Ewood Park ahead of a prospective move.

And Rovers confirmed the switch on Monday evening, with Best putting pen to paper on a deal to keep him at the relegated Lancashire club until 2016. A statement on the club's official website said: "Blackburn Rovers have this evening completed the signing of Leon Best from Newcastle United.

"The 25-year-old striker makes the move from the North East to the North West for a fee of more than £3m, signing a four-year deal."

Best, who scored 10 goals in 46 appearances for the Magpies after joining from Coventry during the 2010 January transfer window, will help fill the void created by Yakubu's departure to China from Blackburn last week.
