Rodgers confident about Suarez stay
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers
The Uruguay international was one of the key players for the Reds last season and he is currently linked with various clubs including Serie A champions Juventus.
However, Rodgers insists that the forward is keen to be part of his team for the new season and hopes that he will extend his contract in the near future.
“I've had a brilliant chat with Luis,” Rodgers told talkSPORT. “He's really looking forward to being here and we are obviously hoping that we can get him on to another new contract.
“He's really looking forward to the new season.”
Welsh forward Craig Bellamy has been included in Great Britain’s final squad for the 2012 Olympic Games, while Suarez and compatriot Sebastian Coates were named in Uruguay’s preliminary squad, but Rodgers says he will not stress much about that.
“As a manager you want all your players in and together but there will be a number of players away for that (the Olympics),” he said.
“The most important thing is to get fit. If he (Suarez) is in the Olympics he will be doing pre-season with the Olympic squad.”
Suarez join Liverpool from Ajax Amsterdam in 2011 and has scored 21 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions.
