Liverpool’s Craig Bellamy has been selected in Great Britain’s squad for the 2012 Olympic Games.

The 32-year-old is one of three players over the age of 23 alongside Ryan Giggs of Manchester United and Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

The tournament will run from July 26th to August 11th and as a result Bellamy is likely to miss Liverpool’s early start of the season which includes Europa League qualifiers.

Great Britain have been drawn in Group A with Uruguay, Senegal and the United Arab Emirates.

Bellamy is currently in his second spell at Anfield, having left in 2007 and rejoined in 2011, and has 18 goals in 79 appearances.
