Craig Bellamy has said he will try and resist the temptation to celebrate should he score in the Carling Cup final against Cardiff city on Sunday.

After suffering from a series of back problems the striker has since been passed fit to play against his former side and his boyhood dream club.

“I certainly won’t celebrate,” said Bellamy. “I tried not to against Man City [in the semifinal]. I tried to hold myself back and really, I didn’t celebrate that much. But in the occasion and the moment, you get a little carried away. I have no aspirations of celebrating, though.

“But I have to be on the pitch first and foremost before I think about scoring.”

The former Manchester City man, managed to tally up 11 goals in 35 appearances for Cardiff last term, narrowly missing out on helping them gain a promotion spot.

“I wanted to go to Cardiff. I didn’t plan when I was going to do it. In fact, I wanted to do it at the start of my career. It wasn’t that I had to go and do it, but I fulfilled a dream.

“It will be a strange situation as it’s the first time I have ever played against them. And it’s not something that I have looked forward to.

“My father’s a big Cardiff fan, and it’s the club I used to go to when I was very young. I set one ambition in my life to play for them. And I was able to do that.”
