Liverpool preparing for life without Suarez
Joe Allen, Liverpool
The Uruguayan picked up his fifth yellow card during the 1-0 win over Southampton and will now serve a one-match suspension.
“It would be a blow for any team in the world to lose a player like Luis for a game,” Allen told reporters.
“It’s a shame he will be missing but it’s up to everyone else to chip in with goals."
Defender Daniel Agger scored the only goal of the match against the Saints, and Allen says they will need someone else to do the business in Suarez' absence.
“Daniel’s header was a great finish on Saturday," he said. "We can’t expect too many from him but it was vital on the day.”
Suarez is now likely to be in the starting lineup when Liverpool play their final Europa League group clash against Udinese and his presence could help the Reds secure the win they need to confirm their qualification for the next round.
“It’s an exciting European fixture and there’s everything to play for,” said Allen. “We’ll go there with confidence and we’re looking forward to it.”
