Sahin itching for Reds debut
Liverpool's new signing Nuri Sahin
The 23-year-old joined the Reds on a season-long loan deal from Spanish giants Real Madrid, and he says he’s ready to hit the ground running after enjoying a good pre-season with his former club.
The former Borussia Dortmund player is ineligible for Thursday night’s Europa League second leg clash against Hearts, but could play his first match in a Liverpool jersey against the Gunners.
“I’ve trained for three days with the team and everything is going well,” Sahin told reporters. “I had a pre-season with Real Madrid and I’m ready to play.
“I’ve settled in really well and I hope it will be the same on the pitch.
“The style I play is the same as the manager wants to play here so I hope to have a great season.”
Sahin was also linked with Arsenal at some stage but he ended up at Anfield and so far he is pleased with his new surroundings.
“Everything people told me about Liverpool is there; it’s what I see now,” said Sahin.
“It is a very big club with a huge history and I think I have made the right choice.
“The project with Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers is the best for my situation I think – that is why I am here.”
