Nigeria midfielder Mikel Obi has
said he is looking forward to having compatriot Victor Moses join him at EPL
side Chelsea.
Chelsea and Wigan Athletic are locked in talks over Nigeria winger Moses and Mikel told MTNFootball.com it would be a good move should it finally sail through.
"Victor Moses is a good player, we all saw what he did last season. I will gladly welcome him and make him feel at home if he comes here. It would be a good move for him and I am sure he will make it big here," Mikel told MTNFootball.com
It has now been reported that Chelsea have been told to increase their offer for Moses to meet the club’s new asking price of £8.5m after their third bid was turned down.
Chelsea have already failed with three offers to sign the Nigeria international, the latest being a £7.5m offer.
Chelsea chief executive Ron Gualay held talks with Wigan supremo Dave Whelan on resolution of the transfer imbroglio.
In the meantime, Mikel told MTNFootball.com his sights are fixed on winning the Community Shield for ‘The Blues’ at the expense of champions Manchester City at Villa Park on Sunday.
"Whenever I am on the pitch, what comes to my mind is victory and that's my desire. To win the Community Shield will be good for us, it will put us in good mood ahead of the new season,” he said.
“We will get it right and beat City. I have won it before and I want to win it again." Mikel, who joined Chelsea in 2006, has won a Premier League title (2009/10), 4 FA Cup title (2006/07, 2008/09, 2009/10, 2011/12), League Cup once in 2006/07, one FA Community Shield (2009) and UEFA Champions League in 2011/12.
