African stars Steven Pienaar and Victor Anichebe helped Everton to a fine 4-0 hammering of Sunderland at Goodison Park in an English Premier League clash on Monday.

It was the perfect warm up for Everton’s FA Cup semi-final clash next weekend with rivals Liverpool and the way in which they dismantled the visitors today will please manager David Moyes very much.

Moyes, however, can thank two of his African stars for their contribution today.

Pienaar got the second goal of the match in an impressive individual display when he bent a precise shot into the corner of the net after Magaye Gueye set him up on the edge of the penalty area.

And nine minutes from time, substitute Anichebe's strike hit Jack Colback and looped past the helpless Mignolet in goal to make it 4-0. Anichebe had only been on the field a few minutes.

After a dour first period, Magaye Gueye broke the deadlock when he smashed in the rebound after Simon Mignolet pushed away Leon Osman's drilled shot.

Leon Osman was the other goal scorer for Everton. He scored with a curling shot, which was very similar to Pienaar’s goal.

Bafana Bafana’s Pienaar will not be able to play against Liverpool in the FA Cup semifinal as he is cup tied having already played for Tottenham Hotspur in the competition.
