Hamburg sporting director Frank Arnesen has confirmed that the club remain interested in re-signing Tottenham attacking midfielder Rafael van der Vaart.

The Netherlands international recently confessed his enduring love for the Bundesliga outfit, with whom he enjoyed three successful seasons before moving to Real Madrid in 2008, but insisted that there has been no contact with his former side.

In addition, Klaus-Michael Kuhne, who bankrolls Hamburg, subsequently stated that the club had no interest in Van der Vaart, but when Arnesen was asked by reporters at a press conference if that was the case, the Dane replied: "No, it's not true."

The former Chelsea man refused to comment further on the issue, though, and would not confirm if Van der Vaart was one of Hamburg's principal transfer targets.

The 29-year-old arrived at White Hart Lane from Madrid in 2010 and has racked up 24 goals in 61 Premier League appearances thus far.
