Napsa Stars fire Patrick Phiri
The former Zambia and Nkana coach was dismissed on Tuesday together with his second assistant Fred Nasilele.
Napsa chairman Richie Nawa told MTNFootball.com that Peter Kaumba and Evans Sakala are in charge until the end of the season.
"Like in a family when things are not going well, changes take effect," Nawa said.
Napsa have been in freefall since the start of the start of the second half of the season on July 14 losing eight, drawing three and winning two of their last 13 matches.
The promoted side is currently two places above the relegation zone in 11th place on 33 points from 27 matches with three games to go before the end of this season.
"All I want are the six points in our remaining three games and Mr. Kaumba has promised to give me those three points to ensure our survival," Nawa said.
Kaumba’s first big test will be this Saturday when Napsa take on Zesco united in the 2012 Barclays Cup semifinals at Woodlands Stadium in Lusaka.
Phiri was appointed this season at Napsa following the sides return to the top-flight after an 11-year hiatus.
The much respected coach firing leaves just three coaches who started the season still in charge of their respective sides.
Wedson Nyirenda at Zesco, Keagan Mumba of Zanaco and Red Arrows trainer George Lwandamina have so far survived what has been high season in the 2012 MTN/FAZ Super Division campaign.
