Zambia coach Herve Renard has said teenage Chipolopolo defender Emmanuel Mbola will soon break into the first team of Portuguese champions FC Porto.

The 19-year-old Mbola joined the Portuguese club in December on a year-long deal from DR Congo champions TP Mazembe and he is currently with the Porto youth team.

"I’m sure he needs to just a little time to show the people over there that he is able to play," Renard said.

"You know how I rate Emmanuel Mbola. I’m sure he will play very soon for the professional team."

Mbola is a Renard protégé from the Frenchmans first tenure as Zambia coach from 2008 to 2010 when he handed the left-back his Africa Cup of Nations debut in Angola two years ago.

However, Mbola's progress was hit by a transfer dispute over his move from Pyunick Yerevan of Armenia to Mazembe that FIFA ruled late last year in the European club’s favour.

The verdict also saw FIFA hand Mbola a three-month ban that subsequently saw him miss Zambia's 2012 Africa Cup sensational showing in Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.
