ZAMBIA: Fringe Goalkeepers Handed Malawi Challenge
Joshua Titima of Power Dynamos
A 26-man Zambia home-based team gathered in Lusaka on Monday to prepare for this Fridays friendly away to Malawi in Blantyre.
However, missing from the team will be Zambia number two goalkeeper Kalililo Kakonje of promoted MTN/FAZ Super Division side Napsa Stars.
Joshua Titima of Power Dynamos, Red Arrows Daniel Munyau and Moses Mapulanga from Nakambala Leopards are the three goalkeepers hoping to impress.
“The reason is we have a training camp in Zambia and it is best to give the opportunity to young players especially young goalkeepers to see them," Beaumelle told MTNFootball.com.
"We have left some regular players to play for their clubs and to rest a bit and give an opportunity for us to use new players."
Beaumelle took charge of the first day of training with Herve Renard away in his native France and he is only expected to join the team on Tuesday evening after his brief break.
Meanwhile, the team will be trimmed to 18 on Wednesday on the day of departure for Malawi.
