Herve Renard has warned his fringe players that Zambia places won’t be easy despite beating Zimbabwe.

Zambia defeated Zimbabwe 2-1 in a trans-Zambezi derby friendly played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Wednesday night.

Renard said the victory was not as important as the players desire to step up to another level.

The Zambia coached started 10 home-based fringe players in the African champions win over visitors Zimbabwe.

"This was an opportunity for me to see a lot of new players," Renard said.

"Their target is to play for the Chipolopolo but it won't be easy for them."

Renard said he is hoping to find the new Chisamba Lungu and Nathan Sinkala by year end.

"We hope to find two or three new players and to take to the next Africa Cup," Renard said.

Defender Aaron Katebe from Zimbabwe club Hwange was the only foreign-based new boy in the team.

Zambia secured their win through Jimmy Chisenga who opened scoring with curling shot with the outside of his right boot.

Joseph Sitali added the second from the penalty spot in the 81st minute.

Zimbabwe scored in between via a 71st minute header from Rodwell Chinyengetere.
