Uganda name team for Cecafa defence
The Serb, who will be leading the Cranes in search of a 14th Cecafa title, included Tanzania-based striker Hamis Kizza and two players who feature in the Kenya Premier League, Daniel Sserunkuma and Khalid Aucho.
The tournament to be played in three Kenyan towns of Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu will take center stage from November 27 to December 12.
Micho told MTNFootball.com they have decided to have the three experienced players after realising that some departments were lacking in their International friendly against Rwanda last weekend.
“We have made some inclusions and hope we shall be able to put the team in good shape before the tournament starts,” Micho disclosed.
Uganda are grouped alongside Eritrea, Rwanda and Sudan.
“I will make sure I try to get the team ready for action in the remaining few days,” explained the Serb, who will also be using the tournament to prepare his team for the 2014 Africa Nations Championship in South Africa.
The coach explained the hosts Harambee Stars of Kenya, Ethiopia and the COSAFA champions Zambia are the teams to reckon with at the tournament.
“We shall try to play the best kind of football as we move forward because there are bigger things ahead,” he added.
The tournament will start on November 27 with two games on card, although the Kenya against Ethiopia tie is the biggest game on the day.
According to CECAFA, the team will travel on Monday morning due to flight changes.
