CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup draws set
Rogers Mulindwa, the CECAFA media officer, told MTNFootball.com onWednesday that they have decided to unveil the sponsors on Friday andalso officially make the draws.
“We are set to have the draws, although we are still waiting forconfirmation from some countries,” added Mulindwa.
The regional tournament will take place in Kenya November 27 toDecember 12 with all the 12 CECAFA member states expected toparticipate, while COSAFA champions Zambia and Malawi have beeninvited as guest sides.
Mulindwa also communicated that the earlier plan of having matchesgoing to towns of Kisumu and Mombasa has been cancelled and all thegroup game matches will be played in Nairobi, while a few of theknock-out games will be taken to other towns.
Uganda Cranes are the defending champions after defeating HarambeeStars of Kenya 2-1 in the final played at the Mandela National Stadiumin Kampala last year.
The Cranes will field their home-based players for the regionaltournament as the coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic prepares his teamfor the 2014 Africa Nations Championship to take place in SouthAfrica.
