In what will come as a shock to Manzini Wanderers supporters, long serving defender and former captain Elias Tsabalaka tendered his resignation letter yesterday.

He has indicated in his letter that he intends joining traditional rivals Manzini Sundowns in the new season.

The Malawian born defender has been shunning the hub giants’ activities since the pre-season training started last week.

MTNFootball.com sources have gathered that the ‘Weslians’ management efforts to convince the player to change his mind were not successful.

It was gathered that the workaholic defender was demanding a free clearance due to unfilled promises despite having one year remaining in his contract.

Wanderers PRO Michael ‘Scara’ Gama confirmed that the player has tendered his resignation letter.

“We have accepted his resignation and we are now waiting to resume the transfer negotiations with whichever team he intends joining. We cannot frustrate the player if he has decided to move on as we have also tried to convince him to stay,” Gama told MTNFootball.com.

Gama said as a team they wish the player all the best of luck after serving the team diligently for the past five years. He described him as one of the most loyal player the team has ever had in its illustrious history.
