Giants Mbabane Swallows’ unconvincing start in the Swazi Telecom Charity voting exercise has seen them surrender fourth spot to Black Swallows.

The red and white outfit had established their ‘empire’ on position four until they were unseated by the ambitious National First Division side.

‘Birds’, as Swallows are widely known, had 3,546 votes by late yesterday and were trailing Black Swallows, who had 4,060 votes. This is reflected in voting results released by the Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Wanderers were still perched at the summit of the voting table with 16,547 votes. As it stands they qualify for the trolley dash on Thursday unless two teams pump in more votes. At least 5,000 votes per week qualify a team for the trolley dash.

SPTC Head of Sales and Marketing Charles Ndlovu has reminded the sides that two teams qualify for the trolley dash, saying that the deadline  to be slotted in this week’s edition is at 2pm this afternoon.

“If more than two teams have accumulated over 5,000 votes each week, the two with the highest among themselves will go to the trolley dash,” he said.

Voting lines close on July 22. Total votes stood at 52,526 but they were still below the targeted one million.
