It’s Wanderers vs Green Mamba
The new tournament, which has replaced the Trade Fair Cup, kicks off on Friday and all games will be played at the Mavuso Sports Centre. The draw was conducted at the Sigwaca House this morning.
The eight participating teams in the preliminaries of the tournament will then produce the four teams to play in the quarterfinals of the tournament against the top four sides from last season’s final log standings.
Teams that got a bye into the quarterfinals of the new tournament by virtue of finishing the last season’s MTN log standings within the top four bracket are Mbabane Swallows, Royal Leopard, Manzini Sundowns and Mbabane Highlanders.
The preliminaries kick off on Saturday with Malanti Chiefs playing hosts to Red Lions and army side Young Buffaloes taking on Moneni Pirates in another eagerly anticipated clash.
On Saturday, Midas City will take on Sea Birds, with the ‘pick of the week’, the Green Mamba versus Manzini Wanderers game, also slated for the same day.
PLS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zwelonke ‘Sport’ Dlamini warned teams to be in their best behaviour.
“We do not find ourselves in a situation whereby teams will be summarily fined, so we expect the teams to continue behaving well like they have been doing. There has only been a few cases of misconduct, which is a good sign and we hope teams will keep up the good behaviour,” he said.
