Bongso close to new Downs’ deal
Bongso Leonard of Manzini Sundowns
With contact on-going between his club and South African-based manager Absalom ‘Scara’ Thindwa, it has come through that a new deal for one year is on the cards.
“The talks have been on-going and I can say that some progress has been made. I’ve already agreed terms for a new deal but it’s not yet final,” the player told MTNFootball.com.
He said he was hopeful that the matter would be wrapped up amicably as only a few things were left for it to be concluded. However, he would not divulge the terms involved in the new deal that could see him earn more than the alleged E7 000 for last season.
Asked if he would still be considering any more offers as the talks move close to a conclusion, he said at the moment he was monitoring the situation but could only do that once he was no longer contracted with Sundowns this month-end.
The player was also asked about the prevailing situation in the team, first the 4-1 demolition by Mbabane Swallows in the league and the suspension of coach Rodwell Dhlakama. However, he asked not commit himself on issues regarding the club.
Sundowns’ PRO Muzi Matsenjwa said Bongso had always been committed to Sundowns. However, he asked to verify the latest developments on the contract talks before he could confirm or deny anything.
