‘Sputla’ joins ‘Koki’ in race for Buffaloes coaching job
Mlamuli Zwane issues instructions to players
MTNFootball.com has gathered that the army side management was divided over the issue as both coaches are favoured candidates for the post to replace the late Francis ‘Mkhulu’ Banda.
Some of the team’s high-ranking officials have recommended Zwane, while the Management Committee (MC) is in support for Vilakati, as exclusively revealed by this website last week.
“The MC wants ‘Koki’ for his powers of restoring discipline in the team, while Zwane is recommended by some of the team elders. So, a decision is yet to be taken about the next coach before the end of the week,” a source said.
In the interim, Buffaloes Managing Director Zenzele ‘Ace’ Dlamini was in charge of the team alongside assistant coach Dominic Kunene for the Swazi Telecom Charity Cup.
Buffaloes PRO Alex Maphosa said issues pertaining to hiring of coaches in the team were dealt with by the directors, so he had not been updated on anything regarding that matter.
“We are meeting today but I am not sure if that matter will be discussed,” Maphosa said.
Zwane refused to comment on the matter until he concludes talks with Buffaloes. Vilakati, on the other hand, confirmed he is still in negotiations with the army side.
“I would not like to say anything until we have finalised everything. Call me on Wednesday,” Vilakati told MTNFootball.com.
Other coaches that were linked with a move of joining Buffaloes are former Wanderers coach Mathews ‘Chaka Chaka’ Mandlazi, former Manzini Sundowns coach Kenny Ndlazi and RSSC coach Gcina ‘Magiyane’ Dlamini.
