Bafana made to wait for Cosafa opponents
Host Zambia face Mozambique in Cosafa Cup quarterfinals while Bafana Bafana must wait to know their Last 8 opponents from Group A.
Mozambique, Bafana Bafana, Malawi, Angola, hosts Zambia and defending champions Zimbabwe all enjoy byes from the group stage and will enter the competition at the quarterfinal stage.
Zambia will face Mozambique on July 14 in the fourth quarterfinal match in Kabwe following tournament draws made on May 3 in Lusaka.
Bafana will face winner from Group A on July 13 in Lusaka that contains Namibia, Mauritius, Seychelles and guest team from the Cecafa zone, Tanzania.
Defending champions and record four time winners Zimbabwe will face Malawi in the last eight on the same date also in Lusaka.
The match will be a repeat of the two sides’ 2003 final that Zimbabwe won 4-1 on aggregate in the two legged final of the 2003 edition of the event.
Zimbabwe won 2-1 in Blantyre in the first leg before winning 2-0 in Harare in the return leg.
Meanwhile, Angola will face winner from Group B on July 14 that contains Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland and guest side from the Cecafa zone, Kenya.
The group games will be played between July 6 to 11 in Lusaka and Kabwe while the semifinals and final will take place at Levy Mwanasawa Stadium in Ndola on July 17 and July 20 respectively.
