Clear-out at Bucs may alert Leopards
Black Leopards will be on red alert after
Orlando Pirates released a number of top stars on Thursday and placed others on
the transfer-list.
Bucs have had a major clear-out, releasing
players who have been with the club a matter of weeks, such as Aubrey Ngoma and
Thabo Rakhale, or months in the case of January signings.
They have also transfer-listed players who
have been with the team a matter of months, such as January signing Njabulo
Manqana.
Dikgang Mabalane, Lizo Mjempu, Talatou
Boubacar, Njabulo Ntusi, Manqana and Chiukepo Msowoya have all been placed on
the transfer list, while Lucas Thwala will not have his contract renewed.
Thwala is a veteran star for Bucs, who has
made over 100 appearances for the side, but
has battled with injury in the past few seasons. He spent last season on
loan at Platinum Stars, but his appearances were sporadic.
Hlabane Kutumela, Patrick Ngidi, Patrick
Mashele, Benjamin Nthethe, Ngoma and Rakhale have been released.
Leopards will be one of those teams looking
to bolster their squad with players discarded by Bucs, with the club admitting
they are in search of fresh talent.
“We are always looking for new players and
that does not stop, even when the transfer window is closed,” says Leopards
spokesman Tendani Thidiela. “We feel like we have a good, competitive squad,
but we are always looking to improve on that.”
