SA stars in Champions League action
Kamohelo Mokotjo will make a return to
the Feyenoord squad for their UEFA Champions league tie against Ukrainian side
Dinamo Kiev tonight.
Mokotjo missed the first leg in Kiev
through injury, but has since recovered from a troublesome ankle problem and is
back in full training.
Feyenoord trail 2-1 from the first leg,
but their away goal means a 1-0 win will be enough to safely see them into the
next round.
This is the first time that they have
qualified for the UEFA Champions League in 10 years, a long time out of the
limelight for a club that has such a rich history in European club competition.
Their fortunes have improved under
former Dutch international Ronald Koeman, who won this competition as a player
with PSV Eindhoven and Barcelona.
May Mahlangu will be in action for
Swedish champions Helsingborg tomorrow night as they defend a 3-0 lead in the
tie with the home leg to come.
It should be a formality for the side,
especially as their form has picked up in recent weeks, and it would be a major
shock were they not to appear in Friday’s draw for the play-off round of the
competition. Winners in the play-off round will be entered into the lucrative
group stages.
Still to enter the competition is Bafana
Bafana playmaker Thulani Serero, whose Ajax Amsterdam team have been given a
bye directly into the group stages.
