Dlamini: “We can match Swallows”
AmaZulu striker Ayanda Dlamini
AmaZulu striker Ayanda Dlamini believes his side can match Moroka Swallows in Sunday’s MTN8 quarterfinal at the Volkswagen Dobsonville stadium.
The Dube Birds finished as runners-up in the league last season while the Usuthu held on to seventh place, but the Dlamini is confident that they have made enough progress to give their opponents a hard time.
"We know it's going to be a difficult game because Swallows have quality players with a lot of experience but I believe we can match them,” said Dlamini.
“We’re going there to compete; we’re not worried about them because we have prepared well for this game.”
‘Cobra’ marked his debut for AmaZulu in style when he scored the second goal in a 2-2 draw against SuperSport United in the same stage of competition back in 2009.
Usuthu went on to win that game 4-3 on penalties before they lost to Lamontville Golden Arrows in the semifinals.
“That was a special goal for me and one of the moments of my career so far,” said Dlamini.
“I’d love to score again; that’s what we always dream about as strikers, but whatever we achieve as a team is more important than individual goals.
“I hope we’ll go even further than we did in 2009.”
