Ajax signed Vilakazi up after his club Bay United were relegated from the Premiership, but so far he has not gained a regular place in the team.
Seen as a number 10 or someone who can attack in wide positions, the Benoni-born player is expected to push harder for a place this season.
Capped at Under 23 level, Vilakazi started his career at Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns juniors before a spell at Golden Arrows.
But after just four appearances he joined Western Province United and then Bay before moving to Ikamva.
Mid-Season Profile
The attacking midfielder who can also attack from wide positions has since broken through and has started to become a regular this season.
With 14 starts, one substitute appearance and a goal to his name so far, Vilakazi is starting to become noticed by more people.
Season Wrap up
‘Vila’s’ first half of the season brought more game time than the latter stages of the campaign , managing just five starts since February.
In total, Vilakazi played 19 matches from the starting whistle and just four off the bench.
