Amajita coach, Solly Luvhengo, has named a 22-man squad to face Nigeria in their next qualifier for the African Youth Championship, two of which came from BidVest Wits.

Asive Langwe & Luckyboy Mokoena were the two Students picked to be part of the Amajita team who have been tasked with getting one over the defending champions of the AYC.

The game, which will take place at Mbombela Stadium on the 21st September, will see Luvhengo’s men take on home turf before travelling to Nigeria in October for the second leg on the 6th.

In two friendly games against Botswana recently, the South African under-20’s won 4-0 twice as they continued to build confidence ahead of the Nigeria game.

Luvhengo told the SAFA website, “We need the same kind of commitment, focus and passion as shown in the matches against Congo and Botswana. If we can manage to maintain this consistency, then we are destined for greatness.

"Nigeria is a very strong team but so are we; we will treat them with the respect they deserve as we have done in the past with our previous opponents but once we take the field, we will compete without fear.”

Should Amajita make it through to the finals of the AYC next March then they will stand a chance of partaking in 2013’s FIFA under-20 World Cup, with the four semi-finalists from the AYC qualifying for the global tournament.
