Lamontville Golden Arrows captain Thanduyise Khuboni says he will continue working hard to reclaim his place in the national team.

The 26-year-old was part of the South African squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and has been a constant feature in the heart of the midfield under former coach Pitso Mosimane.

However, he was recently left out of Gordon Igesund’s first squad for the recent friendly matches against Brazil and Mozambique, but ‘Gonondo’ says he is not discouraged but instead looking forward to making in impression on the new coach.

“I have not worked with him (Igesund); I don’t know that much about him,” admitted Khuboni. “Obviously he didn’t select me but I don’t have to put that in my mind, I just have to work hard and move forward with my life.

“If he calls me then I will go and represent my country and if he doesn’t call me I would have a problem but that would only mean I need to work harder.”

The holding midfielder will face stiff competition from established internationals like Kagiso Dikgacoi and Reneilwe Letsholonyane, as well as up-and-coming players like Kamohelo Mokotjo and Dean Furman.
