Orlando Pirates have confirmed that their national team players will not return for pre-season with the rest of the squad on June 25.

Coach Augusto Palacios has been speaking ahead of Monday’s formal start of pre-season and says he expects the bulk of his squad to come back in good shape.

But those that have been on duty with South Africa will be given more time.to rest having only completed their national team service last Friday.

“I do not think we will struggle a lot to get the players back to their optimum level because a few of them have been active in the national team, while others had an off-season programme to stick to,” Palacios told the club’s website.

“Oupa Manyisa, Andile Jali and Tokelo Rantie will probably need more time before joining the rest of the group but I believe in the player’s professionalism. We have a tough season ahead of us, starting with the Carling Black Label Cup, which is something we take very seriously.”
