Orlando Pirates target Emmanuel Okwi has also been invited for trials in Italy, which could scupper his move to The Buccaneers.

The Uganda international has been linked with a record-breaking R7-million move to The Buccaneers and was due to travel to South Africa in a few weeks’ time. He currently plays for Simba SC in Tanzania.

Now, however, it has emerged that he has also been offered the opportunity to further his career in Italy and has been offered trials from July 2.

“We have received requests from various agents of European clubs, all seeking to snatch Okwi and according to our policy, we will always be ready to listen to their offers," says Simba SC chairman Ismail Aden Rage.

The 19-year-old had a trial at Kaizer Chiefs before last season and was asked back for a second viewing, but at the time turned down the chance to instead attend a another trial in Turkey which came to nothing.

He already has 11 internationals goals to his name for The Cranes, having made his debut at 17, including netting in the 1-1 draw with Angola in a 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Angola on June 2, and in the 4-0 win over Congo in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier this past weekend.
