Chiefs to unveil Mathoho
Kaizer Chiefs are expecting to secure
the transfer of Bloemfontein Celtic defender Erick Mathoho on Thursday.
The AmaKhosi have long been on the trail
of the Bafana Bafana centre-back, fighting a bitter battle with Sundowns for
his services.
Although The Brazilians have stumped up
more cash, the player is set on Chiefs and Celtic have now agreed to sell him
to Naturena.
"We have agreed with Celtic and
they have promised to finish up all the paperwork by the end of the day
[Wednesday]. This is the last deal that we wanted to do," Chiefs football
manager Bobby Motaung told Sowetan.
Mathoho will partner Morgan Gould, who
cost R5-million from SuperSport United, in Chiefs' new-look central defence
next season.
The club have already also signed
Siboniso Gaxa, Sakhile Hlongwa, Nhlanhla Khuzwayo and Siyabonga Nkosi.
