Celtic deny chasing Botswana star
Bloemfontein Celtic have denied chasing a
Kaizer Chiefs target, Botswana international winger Joel Mogorosi.
Mogorosi has been the subject of much
interest from South Africa, with Platinum Stars said to also be keeping an eye
on the player, but having recently signed for FC Platinum in Zimbabwe, any move
for him would be complicated.
It would require his Botswana club, Mochadi
Centre Chiefs, to cancel the deal with the Zimbabweans, something that could be
possible given that any offer from South Africa would likely dwarf the P400 000
that FC Platinum paid for the player.
But Celtic CEO Khumbalani Konco has
denied that his side will make a move, while FC Platinum say they are still
expecting the player to join them around July 15.
"Save for the stories we are
reading in the papers, they have not communicated with us. I don't think they
are aware that Joel is our player," FC Platinum club secretary Philimon Muvengwa
told Mmegi Sport.
“We paid for the player in full and we
have signed contracts - Chiefs are aware of that. The player has a contract
with us so he is ours. We expect him in Zvishavane next month around July
15."
