Moleko had overseas offers
New Kaizer Chiefs recruit Kgotso Moleko
says he only ever wanted to sign for AmaKhosi, despite two offers from abroad.
The right-back left Bloemfontein Celtic
at the end of last season as a free agent and had opportunities in Europe, but
opted instead to move to Naturena.
“I had two options overseas on but when
an opportunity to join Chiefs availed itself I could not turn it down. I want
to establish myself at Chiefs before I can think of furthering my career in
Europe,” Moleko told his club’s website.
“We all know that Kaizer Chiefs is an
ambitious club and one can see with the type of players that the team signed
this season. The fans are expecting trophies following a season where the team
did not win a cup. I have not won a trophy yet in my career and I see joining
Chiefs as an opportunity for me to win things.
“It is of course not about me but the
team. I am going to learn as much as I can from the senior players but it is
also my intention to write my name in the history books of this club. This
calls for hard work and I have no doubt that if I keep my feet on the ground
and listen to those who were there before me I will achieve my goals in life.”
Moleko will face tough competition for
the right-back berth when veteran Jimmy Tau returns from injury, while Bafana
Bafana international Siboniso Gaxa can also be used in that position.
