Bucs too sharp for Arrows

Two goals from Benni McCarthy helped Orlando Pirates to a 2-0 friendly win over Lamontville Golden Arrows on Tuesday.

The match was played at the Rand Stadium and would have had a sense of déjà vu for Arrows with the first goal.

Sifiso Myeni was fouled on the edge of the box and Mccarthy stepped up to whistle home the free-kick, just as he had done on the final day of the 2011/12 PSL season to win the League title.

McCarthy’s second was more about the good work done by Ndumiso Mabena, who rounded the goalkeeper and laid a cross on a plate for the former Bafana Bafana striker to score.

Pirates also gave a first run-out to 17-year-old Nhlankanipho Ntuli, who has recently been promoted to the first team from the development ranks. He came on as a substitute for new signing Manti Moholo.
