Bobe not worried by lack of signings
Mongezi Bobe says he is not worried by
the lack of signings at Black Leopards so far this transfer window.
Lidoda Duvha have lost star striker
Kingston Nkhatha to Kaizer Chiefs, and although young Zimbabwean Brian Amidu
has come in to replace him, there has been minimal other transfer activity
since last season.
But Bobe says the fight the team has
shown in their CAF Confederation Cup run, up to the 0-0 draw with top Sudanese
side Al-Merreikh on Saturday, shows they have good depth and quality in their
squad already.
“The coaches are the ones who know the strengths and weaknesses of the team, so
it’s for them to deal with,” he says. “I was impressed on Saturday. I do think
though that we still need one or two defenders. We’ve got capable defenders who
can do the job, but as a team, everything starts from the back if you are to
win the championship.
“This season I’m not even thinking of
relegation and I don’t want to hear the word ‘relegation’. I think we’ve got a
good squad and I’m convinced that seeing we were only knocked out at this stage
of the Confederation Cup, with the fight we put up, we’ll be challenging this
season. It won’t be easy, but it’s all about the focus and a strong mentality.”
