Ajax Cape Town’s CEO George Comitis has admitted disappointment in having to sell their star player George Maluleka to SuperSport United.

Maluleka, who started his PSL career at the Pretoria club, completed his transfer on Friday afternoon marking an end to his three year spell at Ikamva.

And Comitis has voiced his regret in having to cash in on the player:

“Maluleka had a buy-out clause in his contract and he was interested in returning to SuperSport, there was nothing Ajax can do.

“We are disappointed at losing a player of his calibre. Ajax had no intention of selling the player, but our hands were tied.

“George had a few clubs interested in his services with United and Sundowns leading the pack.

“We wish to thank George for being a model professional on and off the field and we wish him all the best for his future,” concluded his statement on Ajaxct.com.
