Pirates ready for League action

Orlando Pirates midfielder Oupa Manyisa says the players have put behind them the Champions League loss as they take on Platinum Stars.

The Buccaneers travel to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng for the re-arranged Absa Premiership clash on Wednesday knowing that a win will take them to within five points of leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with 13 games left to play.

But their confidence could be low after a 3-1 loss to Angolan champions Recreativo Libolo in Port Elizabeth on Sunday which has seriously put in doubt their further participation in Africa’s top club competition.

“That [CAF Champions League] was a different competition in which we needed a result at all cost. The league is a different thing all together; we know our position on the log and we have to work towards moving up the table,” Manyisa told the club’s official website.

“We want to improve our league position and that remains our main focus at all time. We will play to win and we will be firing from the word go.”
