PSL add extra incentive
PSL chairman Irvin Khoza
The announcement was made on Friday with R1.5-million to be given the team who tops the table after eight, 15, 23 and 30 matches.
With the winners of the Absa Premiership still to receive R10-million, it means that if a club leads the title race from start to finish, they will take home a cool R16-million.
The innovation has been brought in to try to create further hype during the campaign, as well as offering reward to those teams who campaigned well during the season, but miss out on the League title.
It enhances the PSL’s reputation as the richest football competition in Africa, with prize-money that now well exceeds the CAF Champions League and matches the African Cup of Nations.
