Nontshinga sets goals target
Bloemfontein Celtic striker Siyabonga
Nontshinga has set himself a target of goals in the new PSL season.
Nontshinga joined Phunya Sele Sele at the
end of last season from relegated Jomo Cosmos, having had a mixed season in
which he struggled for goals, but won three Bafana Bafana caps.
He says that experience will hold him in
good stead for the campaign with Celtic.
“I would like to score no less than 12
goals,” he says. “This will be my second season in the Premier League and I
learnt a lot with Cosmos last year. I think that experience, even though the
side did not do so well, was good for me.
“I know that Celtic are a side that create
a lot of chances, so it will be up to me to put the ball in the back of the
net. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself, but 12 goals is about
what I should be looking for I think.”
From a team perspective, Nontshinga says
they are looking at a top four place.
“I think to finish in the top four or five
and we see what happens after that. Moroka Swallows showed last year that if
you can get on a good run then anything can happen. We have to believe that we
have a squad of players who can do well in the League. And I would love for us
to win a cup competition because I think the fans deserve that success. They
have waited long enough.”
