Konco hails Duiker capture
Bloemfontein Celtic CEO Khumbulani Konco has
hailed the acquisition of “top-class” midfielder Itumeleng Duiker.
Duiker joined from Black Leopards just
before the transfer window slammed shut last week and Konco says he will add
great strength to the club’s midfield.
“Duiker is already on board and we are
delighted to have signed up a top class player of his caliber,” Konco says. “He
is a tremendous talent. We have been keeping a close eye on him and we invited
him for trials, he impressed us, hence we wasted no time in bringing him to
Bloemfontein.
“He is an experienced campaigner having
played for [Lamontville Golden] Arrows and Leopards in the past and we are
convinced he will contribute to the success of the club. It is important that
we tighten up all the departments, considering that we want to compete for
honours this season.”
Duiker was not considered for the 2-0 Absa
Premiership loss at BidVest Wits at the weekend, but should be in contention
for a starting place in the club’s next fixture, at home to Ajax Cape Town on
September 16.
