Chiefs face right-back crises

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed that right-back Siboniso Gaxa will be ruled out for the next three weeks, a real problem for the side.

Gaxa picked up a side strain early on in the 4-1 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarterfinal last week and was replaced by Lincoln Zvasiya.

With right-backs Jimmy Tau and Kgotso Moleko also missing through injury, it means that coach Stuart Baxter is without his top three choices min the position.

It is likely that Zvasiya, more usually a centre-back, will continue in the role when Chiefs open their League campaign at AmaZulu on Saturday.

Another option would be to use Willard Katsande in the right-back position after the Zimbabwean played a handful of games there last season.

Better news for the club is the return of winger Siphiwe Tshabalala from an ankle injury and Keegan Ritchie from a bout of flu.

Jimmy Jambo had to cover for Ritchie with a broken nose in last weekend’s loss to Sundowns.
