Maarten Stekelenburg believes Ajax Cape Town’s home match to Platinum Stars will be ‘crucial’ and ‘an exciting game’.

The Urban Warriors will turn out at Cape Town Stadium on Friday evening where they will look to collect their first three points of the season.

“Coming into the home game against Platinum Stars, we know how important this game is for us,” Stekelenburg voiced in the club’s press conference.

“We have one point from our first two games. So it is a crucial game. We need the three points and we are also going to play for the three points.”

Former Ajax youth coach Cavin Johnson will be on the bench for Platinum Stars and they have got their season off to a mixed start.

“Platinum Stars started the league very well against Moroka Swallows and had a loss to Bloemfontein away, so for them it is also an important game,” added the Dutch coach.

“It will be a clash. Both coaches will look for a result and so it will be an exciting game from both sides.”
