Parker - This season will be different
Kaizer Chiefs’ four goal hero Bernard Parker says he is expecting to be a better player in this campaign after battling to maintain form in his debut season with the club.
The 26-year-old managed just three league goals last season after joining the Glamour Boys from FC Twente, and has already bettered his tally following his four-goal blitz during a 6-0 win over AmaZulu on Saturday night.
"It was a great game, both ends, going end to end," said Parker after the match.
"AmaZulu gave us a tough time in the first 15 minutes and we managed to change the team around.
"I went behind the striker and things seemed to work out and we got our first goal.
"It was a great performance from both teams but we took our chances and the unity, teamwork and positive attitude paid off at the end of the game."
The Bafana Bafana striker says he has learnt his lesson from his below par performance last season and looking forward to being more involved in the final third of the pitch.
"I think this season will be different than last season," he said, after Chiefs kicked off the new season in style at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
"I think last season I wanted to prove too much and I worked too hard and I never got myself into scoring positions," he said.
"I managed to look at it and this season from the start of the pre-season I said to myself let me get into more scoring positions than just chasing all the way back and not having the legs when I go forward."
