Keon van de Laak admits the curiosity of playing abroad is what brought him to Cape Town and is hoping for a better Ajax Cape Town this coming season.

The Dutchman joined the Urban Warriors outfit in June from Groningen, where he confirmed that life in the Mother City is what brought him to the club.

“I know Ajax and I like Cape Town,” he told MTNFootball. “I know the City and I know what it is like to live in.

“I always wanted to know what it was like to play abroad and I had the option to come to Cape Town so I said okay.”

With experience in European football and having captained Eredivisie side Groningen, the midfielder was brought in to help add stability to the squad in order to improve on last season’s ninth place finish.

“Last year was not so good [for Ajax], but for me, it is maybe better to bring some experience in the team and hopefully we end up better this year.”
